With Ash telling Raihan he will be the one to beat Leon, it would be interesting to watch how they both interact.
But, the one positive is that I do hope that this leads to a rivalry between Ash and Raihan. It seemed like because they needed to get through the battle to the rest of the episode, they cut corners in the battle. I didn’t think it was animated particularly well, even though the art was good. Three days after their confession, they open up to each other and things tend to get a little heated. Ultimately, I think Leon should face either 2 champions before Ash or a Galar Gym Leader and 1 champion before Ash. Leon and Raihan are hiding their new relationship for the most part. The battle between Raihan and Leon didn’t do much for me. Ash VS Raihan Cynthia VS Lance Steven VS Diantha Leon VS Iris Could substitute Iris for someone else and depending on who, I could see that person fighting Steven instead and then Diantha fighting Leon. Journeys definitely keeps you on your toes though.īesides that, I enjoyed this episode for the most part. He might capture all 3 galar starters, but if he only ends up using Raboot, than what's the point? Either way, I guess we'll just have to be patient and find out. My big worry is that it’s going to be a wasted capture with Go. However, that sakuragi park is one heck of a place for pokemon isn’t it. It would’ve been worth it if this is how it works out. And hey, if they decide to do that, fantastic. Similar to the games, it seems like Rose helped leon get to where he was. And although this won’t be shown for a while since they won’t be facing each other anytime soon, be sure to look out for it next time they do.Īlso, in the post match handshake when Raihan tells Leon he is going to be the one to beat his undefeated streak, Ash pipes up, claiming he is going to be the one to do it and this is where we are first introduced to Rose. He makes do with whatever moves he has and chooses to try and make out of the box choices to win, even if he doesn’t have a hard counter to something. He is more of a thinker when the battle begins. If you’ve watched the show for any length of time, you know that Ash on the other hand, is the opposite of that. Their subsequent battle is not shown on-screen, but Leon defeats Raihan to retain his title. He exchanges greetings with his opponent Raihan, who is challenging him with Duraludon, before Gigantamaxing his Charizard. Changing his moves, changing his tactics before the battle begins. Leon first appears in the games introduction movie, where he is introduced as Galars undefeated Champion by Rose at Wyndon Stadium. He plans for his opponents and makes changes based on what he needs to do to win. Leon is a critical thinker for the battle, before a match takes place. The reason I find this interesting is that the show is already showing us subtle differences between Ash and Leon and their battle style.
